We hope you’ve been noticing the intentionally conspicuous poster of a partially-green cedar tree outside Webster Hall each recent Sunday. We also hope you’ve realized that the growing amount of green foliage is reflecting progress in gathering pledges for the funding of a great 2012-13 church year.
Cedars’ annual stewardship campaign is underway, and so far this year’s board-led approach has been progressing well while relatively low-key. We’ve simply been asking members and friends to consider pledging generously, and to do so online or by filling out the simple form on the back of a flyer available near the poster or in Webster Hall. We need to conclude the pledging process this Easter week so that assembly of a budget proposal can begin. We suspect that a few of you may appreciate a more direct appeal (or have not been paying attention), and we will be reaching out to you over the next week or so to bring this necessary stage to a close.
We also hope it’s been clear that we’re seeking to strengthen Cedars’ programs and deepen the precious sense of community we’ve created together, rather than simply gathering more funding to keep doing what we’ve been doing (even though we necessarily need to do that too). And we hope that you have been able to recognize and appreciate how Cedars is or could be enriching your family’s lives, and that your pledging is an expression of that understanding.
