Adult Programs Committee

Spiritual Odysseys

Beginning May 31st (and every fourth Saturday thereafter) the Adult Program Committee will begin offering a new series of events.  In addition to great food, these once-a-month adult potluck dinners will feature the personal stories of various Cedars UU members.

As we journey along life’s path we become more aware of our place in the larger scheme of things.  Hopefully, our daily lives become more meaningful and our actions more thoughtful.  While we come together from time to time, every hero and heroine follows their own life path and each journey is unique.

A pilgrim walking through an unknown country came upon a wise old woman sitting under a tree. He asked her where the path led.  She replied: “Stranger, there is no path.  The path is made by walking.”

Come hear about the life path (or Spiritual Odyssey) taken by some of your UU friends.  Each time we meet one or two of our UU members will be sharing their life journeys and/or spiritual experiences

These potlucks will be held in the lower meeting room of the Sterling Building, 600 Winslow Way East, Bainbridge Island. from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.  In order to be true to our Green Sanctuary commitments, please bring your own plate, utensils, and a cloth napkin.  If you want something to drink, other than coffee and tea, which will be provided, please bring your own - and maybe a bit more to share.

For more information please contact Donna Moore.  Space is somewhat limited; the room can only accommodate about 15 or 20, so sign up early on the Adult RE Programs board.  Be sure and mark your calendars for the fourth Saturday of May.

Mission of the Adult Programs Committee

The mission of the Adult Programs Committee is to "nurture a learning spirit," which is a part of the Mission Statement of Cedars UU Church.

That mission grows out of our 48-year history as a fellowship evolving into a church. That history has been marked by a wide variety of lay-organized adult discussion groups, study circles and forums. Those activities occurred for decades before we developed into a church with regular Sunday services.  The remarkable and continuing growth of the Cedars congregation, especially in recent years, ensures that there is a diverse range of issues, concerns and interests.

The Adult Programs Committee will focus on small group gatherings and workshops that will nurture our learning spirit and deepen our connections for the coming church year.
