Upcoming RE Experience
Our 5th-7th graders are working their way through the Crossing Paths curriculum which introduces them to other religions. Visiting and experiencing other houses of worship is a key component of this curriculum.
We started with our own UU faith, and after several weeks of activities around the 7 Principles, we visited Quimper UU Fellowship in Port Townsend on October 28. Two RE students went on this field trip. After our visit, we had lunch together and compared their service to our Cedars UU service. In particular, we all agreed we liked our way of doing Joys & Concerns better!
Currently, the class is preparing to visit Bainbridge’s Congregation Kol Shalom to learn about the Jewish faith and traditions. On Sunday December 9, Spencer Thal (from our own congregation), will be talking with the class about his experience growing up Jewish. The field trip to Kol Shalom will take place on January 5, a Saturday of course.
Please mark these dates in your calendar because your kids won’t want to miss out!
Also, coming up in the spring we have tentative dates for field trips to a Catholic
congregation, an Evangelical congregation and an Islamic congregation!
