Fundraising Committee Report

Successful Dinner-Dance
Fundraising Event

Our annual social fundraiser event was held on Saturday, November 2, at the Whale Ballroom in the Clearwater Casino. Funds were raised through ticket sales, raffles, the Dessert Dash, and a silent Paddle call. The total raised to date is about $18,000; with currently tabulated expenses bringing the net income to about $13,700.

The dinner featured tasty BBQ ribs, chicken, brats, and vegetarian chili. The Dessert Dash featured donated desserts from our talented Cedars bakers: amazing cheesecakes, cupcakes, truffle cake, carrot cake, berry pie, and more! Every table had surveyed the options before being called up for their choice. Each table runner rushed to grab a favorite, and no one was disappointed!

After dinner, a professional contra dance caller, Amy Carroll, led us in a variety of folk dances. When Amy asked, “Who wants to dance?” every able person joined her on the dance floor. Before each dance, Amy gave instructions; then a lively 3-piece band played as we danced with our partners and our group star-circling, do-si-do-ing, sashaying, and promenading around the floor. Dancers ranging in age from 4 to 88 had a great time dancing together!

If you were unable to attend the fundraiser and participate in the Paddle Call, you still can help Cedars’ operations by sending a check to the Cedars Office with your donation. Use the notation Fundraising Donation. Or you can put your donation check in the basket during this Sunday’s service.

Many thanks to the Fundraising Committee: Mary Clear-Padilla, Carol Ann Davidson, Herb Hethcote, Jane Martin, Bob Meredith, Betsy Minkoff, Dean Sampson, Pat Sampson, Patti Shannon, and Mary Lou Teske.

Our Cedars fundraising opportunities in the spring will be the Silent Auction Event (held after two Sunday services) and our Market Place sale (held after a Sunday service).
