Oct. 2: Theology Ablaze!

Rev. Tom Owen-Towle, guest minister,
with Nancy Philip, Worship Associate

Unitarian Universalism has deepened spiritually in the past 50 years (since the merger of these two heritages in 1961), becoming even more of a life-affirming, liberating, and loving religion, a powerful, relevant force in today’s world.

Rev. Tom Owen-Towle has just completed 44 years of settled ministry and is now giving sermons and conducting workshops across the land on the themes of his two dozen books. This Sunday’s topic covers material in his latest stirring work on progressive religion, “Theology Ablaze!” Copies will be available after the service, along with some of his other volumes on spirituality, men’s growth and relationships.

Tom is married to Rev. Carolyn Sheets Owen-Towle, and they are both Ministers Emeriti of First UU Church of San Diego, where they served for 24 years. They are dear friends, colleagues and mentors of Cedars’ Revs. Barbara and Jaco ten Hove.
