Surely Joy is the Condition of Life

April 3, 2016 (10:00 a.m. at The Island School)

Rev. Barry Andrews
Jan Forrest, worship associate

The text for this sermon comes from the Gospel according to Henry Thoreau: “Surely joy is the condition of life.” One should be somewhat hesitant, I think, to talk about a subject like joy. Especially given the state of the world today. Yet I wish to make the case for having a cosmic optimism such as Thoreau’s.
