Seeking “Salvation by Bibliography” as our late friend Marvin Evans used to say, we meet to discuss books that can intrigue and might enlighten us.

Our May selection, proposed by Joyce Jensen (via Mary Romeo) is Search, by Michelle Hunevan.

Recently featured on NPR, this novel, as a sharp and funny memoir (with recipes) gleefully digs into the activities of a New-Agey (UU) church committee trying to reach consensus. But there’s also a profoundly spiritual dimension to the story. It raises difficult questions about living one’s beliefs in a faith-based community and doesn’t flinch when principles and practice come into conflict.

We will discuss the book via Zoom). For more information contact Alan Miller or Mary Romeo.
